Building a Better Future with Lutherwood

Eastforest Homes is proud to partner with Lutherwood in their Compass Homebuilding Partnership Program. The Compass Homebuilding Program will provide sixteen unemployed youth the opportunity to gain skills, experience and long term employment in various trades related to the residential construction industry.

Eastforest Homes will be providing the work site for the hands-on component of the program by providing Lot # 9 at our Westmeadow Project for the project to take place. Participants will spend four weeks focusing on employability traits including life and work skills, tools awareness, blueprints, trades information and safety awareness followed by a fifteen weeks of hands-on learning by framing a complete residential building.  The final stage of the program is sixteen weeks of paid employment with a local builder which will lead to permanent employment and other skilled trade opportunities in the future.

Lutherwood is a non-profit organization that serves individuals and families in Waterloo, Wellington and Grey-Bruce regions by providing a range of different programs and services that benefit our communities. On July 7, 2008 Human Resources and Skills Development Canada provided funding to Lutherwood to provide the Compass Homebuilding Program. Lutherwood Compass Program will begin their build program the week of September 15, 2008.
